Scott Shallenbarger (Artistic Associate)

 
Scott experienced Hubris’ inspiring commitment and passion for theatre while directing Jeffrey.  He is thrilled to be part of this wonderful company so that he can continue creating with joy-filled, fellow artists dedicated to challenging work.  What a gift! 

Prior to Jeffrey, Scott directed The Children’s Crusade, The Hot L Baltimore, The Glass Menagerie, The Road to Mecca, and Six Degrees of Separation (Raven Theatre) and Skyscraper (Piven Theatre).  On-Stage, Scott has been seen as Vaslav Nijinsky in the one-man show Nijinsky: Death of a Faun, Burn This, and Our Country’s Good.  Scott is Piven Theatre’s Literary Manager and a published playwright.

Scott received his B.S. in Theatre Education from Illinois State University and his M.A. in Theatre (emphasis on Directing) from Northwestern.  He has served as Highland Park High School’s director of Theatre Arts for 17 years where he teaches acting, directing, a theatre course for developmentally disabled students, and directs 3 productions a year.  And none of it could be possible without the love and support of his partner Brad and son Riley!
